Afternoon On the Fire Escape

$1,600.00

21” x 26”.

I saw this intriguing shadowscape on a brick building when I was out driving a couple of years ago, and it has been nagging me to be painted ever since (you artists out there will know what I mean by that!)

What really attracted me to this scene was the starkness of the symmetrical shadows of the fire escape as they fell across the weathered bricks on a warm summer late afternoon.

In the actual photo, the doors and fire escape were painted the same color as the bricks, but artistic license allowed me to change them to a lovely shade of Cobalt Teal, and I added the cats and pot of flowers, as well.  Can you find both cats?

In case you were wondering, yes, I painted each brick individually and included splashes of Winsor Violet and Cobalt Teal in the bricks to help tie the painting together.

This painting was created using 140# Arches watercolor paper and a variety of professional transparent watercolors. It is hand-signed, matted and framed.

Price excludes shipping (contact me for a shipping estimate if you live outside of the Gig Harbor, WA, area.)

Painting sizes refer to unframed artwork. Frames typically add 4–8" to the length and width, depending on artwork size.
