A Taste of Watercolor: 2
hour single class for people who aren’t sure if they want to do watercolors or
not but think it might be fun to try it out. Supplies are provided. $40.
We’ll make 4 small landscapes that will let you “test run” some watercolor
supplies and learn a few basic watercolor techniques, including:
--How to do wet on wet washes
--How to paint wet on dry
--How to do paint different values (ie, light versus dark) using
--How to create clouds by lifting color with a paper towel
--How to create water blooms on purpose
--A brief introduction to using masking fluid
My hope is that you will
decide that you love watercolors after taking this class!
Introduction to Watercolor Course: This
course is for anyone that wants to learn or brush up on basic watercolor
6 weeks, one class per week (approximately 2 hours long.) We will be packing in a lot of information and working together on a
series of fun exercises and paintings. Our pace will be fairly fast so
come prepared to get to work!
$240 for the course, or $200 if they’ve previously taken “A Taste of Watercolor”
class from me. Students bring their own paper and supplies.
Week #1: Supplies, Brush strokes and the Value scale
Week #2: Watercolor washes and Warm-up with Four Different Landscapes
Week #3: Glazes versus Mingling + Introduction to Color
Week #4: Charging in more color, Creating water blooms,
Lifting color and Saving the whites of the paper
Week #5: Edges, Salt textures, and How to transfer an image with
graphite tracing paper
Week #6: Negative painting and Creating water drop textures
