I saw this intriguing shadowscape on a brick building when I was out driving a few years ago. What really attracted me to this scene was the starkness of the symmetrical shadows of the fire escape as they fell across the weathered bricks on a warm summer late afternoon.
In the actual photo, the doors and fire escape were painted the same color as the bricks, but artistic license allowed me to change them to a lovely shade of Cobalt Teal, and I added the cats and pot of flowers, as well. Can you find both cats?
In case you were wondering, yes, I painted each brick individually and included splashes of Winsor Violet and Cobalt Teal in the bricks to help tie the painting together.
This original watercolor is hand signed and titled and is already matted and framed, ready to hang! Sizes are the painting size only -- matted and framed paintings will be a bit larger (typically 5-8" larger per side.)
